They are Christians.

At the heart of LFEC are people who have come to know Christ. A Christian is someone who recognises that though they were born knowing God is ‘out there’; for all their own efforts to find Him - they cannot.

At some point in their lives, they discovered the reason God was distant was that they had driven Him away by breaking His rules for life. God calls this sin and because God hates sin, it left Him no option but to walk away from them. They also discovered that they were not alone in doing this; it’s something we have all done.

But these people also came to discover that though our sins have driven God away, this has not stopped Him speaking to us. Amazingly when God speaks to us it is not to condemn us but to offer of reconciliation. We see this most clearly when we look at God’s Son, Jesus Christ, the “Friend of sinners”. Christians are followers of Jesus Christ because they realise He is, “the way the truth and the life”. They have seen that Christ’s death and resurrection is the only solution to the problem of their sin. They have also come to see that faith in Christ and not themselves is the only way to bring God back.

As a result of shifting their trust and confidence away from themselves and onto Christ they have come into a relationship with Christ. That is, Christ is no longer a concept restricted to the pages of a book. He is no longer wheeled out on Sundays and packed away for the rest of the week. Instead He has become real to them and is the vital component of their everyday lives. As a result their lives have been changed by this experience of Christ.
